Huda Beauty 3-D Highlighter Palette REVIEW and SWATCHES | Pink Sands

Today I thought I’d review the new Pink Sands 3-D Highlighter by Huda Beauty! There is a companion palette to this, Gold Sands which is aimed more towards medium-deep skintones, which I have yet to pick up.

What It Is

A highlighter palette with two different textures: a pearlescent creamy shade and three light-catching pressed pearl hues.

What It Does

Inspired by Huda Kattan’s hack of layering oil with powder highlighter to amplify her glow, this palette is packed with two different textures. The Melted Strobe, a pearlescent creamy formula enriched with karite butter, creates a flawless, lit-from-within canvas for layering powders. The three, light-catching pressed pearls are staggered in complimentary tones to give you sculpted, 3D radiance. With effortless blendability and layering power, this palette lets you build and sculpt your highlight to a desired level of radiance—from subtle, natural radiance to an all-over glow.

The palette itself contains:

0.35 oz/ 10.3 mL Melted Strobe Cream Highlight

3 x 0.28 oz/ 7.93 g Powder Highlight

These highlighters are made without Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates and is cruelty-free.

“I wanted to make getting the ultimate glow easy for everyone. So we combined colors, formula and technique to make highlighting like a pro within each person’s grasp. Highlighter can really magnify any makeup, but there are concerns for people with larger pores as the pigments tend to emphasize skin unevenness which is a problem that I have. I love to blend face oils and pigments together to smooth the skin texture and amplify the reflection of the pearls. That’s when I knew I had to create this highlighter. It’s the all-in-one, ultimate cheek palette for everyone.”—Huda Kattan

The palette costs $45 USD / $59 CDN

The front has a beautiful photo of Huda and reflects off the eyeshadow and highlight points. It’s quite an intriguing packaging idea for the product.

The inside you have the four highlighters, and above is instructions on how to use the product. Personally, I think this is a plus, but I would have preferred a mirror for the price.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the cream in this palette, which is called Capri. I find it quite sheer, and even as a base I’m just not overal thrilled with the performance. It doesn’t emphasize texture, which is good, but overall I’m not a fan.

The powders are better, but still aren’t the typical Highlight that I’d reach for.

I expect Santorini to be more pigmented, but with a brush it doesn’t pick up very much product, and without using Capri as a base, it falls flat.

The same goes for Azores, it’s very sheer and doesn’t pick up well with a brush.

Ibiza is the best of the four highlighters, and it’s more so a blush topper. Even so, the formula was more pigmented and picked up better with a brush.

Pink Sands vs Gold Sands

Like I stated earlier, I have yet to pick up gold Sands, and I’m unsure if I’m going to. But I wanted to include swatches from sephora showing the difference between the two palettes!

To be completely honest, I’m quite let down by this palette. I went in without many expectations for this, but every single highlighter fell flat, aside from Ibiza which will work fine as a blush topper and highlight for me.

I ended up paying only about $40 CDN for a brand new palette, but I wish I had spent the extra money and bought it from sephora, as there’s a good chance I’d have returned it. Alas, I’m stuck with this purchase and as such I will continue to use the hell out of it and try to get it to work for me.

I think if you’re into a more subtle highlighter, you’d enjoy this.

But if you’re a “Glow to the heavens” sort of girl like myself, I wouldn’t suggest picking this up.

If you have this palette and love it, please let me know what I can do to improve my experience with it!

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Loose Powder & Lip Booster Review!

Recently MUFE Canada was so kind as to send me two of their new, and improved products from their Ultra HD line!

Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder

The ULTRA HD micro finishing Loose Powder retails for $44 CDN and contains 8.5g of product.

This product is very lightweight when applied to the skin. I find it makes my pores appear smaller, and makes my skin overall look airbrushed.

Personally I use this as an under eye setting powder, as well as an overall face Powder.

I like applying this under my eyes, and over my t-zone as I have normal/dry skin and those are the areas where I like to set my makeup.

Overall I would highly recommend this if you like a lightweight, translucent finish in your setting Powder. I think for the price you get a good amount of product seeing as you don’t need much to set your entire face.

Ultra HD Lip Booster

The Ultra HD Lip Booster retails for $29 CDN and contains 6ml of product.

There are two shades: clear, and light pink. The shade I received is clear.

This Lip Serum is very thin, and lightweight. It doesn’t feel like my lips are going to stick together when I put this product on.

The website states this is ideal for use prior to makeup application.

Personally I think this product is best for day time use before Lipstick application, or as a every day lip balm, so I heavily agree with the claims.

I have used this as an overnight lip serum balm, and it does stay hydrated overnight, but not to the extent that my drier lips need.

I would highly recommend this product if you’re looking for a lip serum that isn’t too heavy, and that would sub as a gloss on quick makeup days.

Again, thank you to Make Up For Ever Canada for sending me these products.

Lime Crime OPALS Hi-Lite Palette REVIEW + Swatches

My friend shared a photo of herself wearing the most BEAUTIFUL Highlighter I had ever seen! I immediately asked what it was, and she replied “The new limecrime one!” I, of course went and purchased this as soon as I could. If you’d like to see swatches, and my thoughts on this palette, just keep on reading.

The Opals Hi-Lite Palette by Lime Crime Cosmetics retails for $38usd and contains a total net weight of 21g (0.75oz) OR 3 shades containing 7g (0.25oz) each.

( If you’re international like me, it’s nice to note that shipping to Canada was only $8. )

The palette contains three shades: Pink, Gold and Peach.

The highlighters come in a pretty holographic cardboard packaging with a sturdy magnetic lid. I think for the price point the packaging is pretty spot on

The texture on these highlights fascinate me. In comparison to other textures, they feel more powdery than Colourpop Super Shock Highlighters, but they apply creamy like say a Becca Highlighter.

If you prefer a more blinding/intense highlight, I suggest using a more dense brush to pick up the product. I actually use a small blush brush to apply these as I find this creates the most beautiful, intense glow I’ve ever seen in a Highlight.

If you prefer a more subtle highlight, this palette can still be for you! If I apply them with a fan brush, or a normal tapered highlight brush, upon initial application the glow is far more subtle, and if you blend it can create a beautiful lit from within glow.

Wear Time

Sadly I find the highlighters in this palette wear off the fastest of all of my highlighters, but since the packaging itself is rather sleek I wouldn’t mind reapplying them.

When I applied Peach, it lasted around 4 1/2 hours. This includes a setting spray on top. If this bothers you, that would be something to consider when buying this palette. Personally it doesn’t bother me.

I’ve yet to try the others, but since they have a more powdery texture, I assume they’ll react the same.

I really enjoy the highlighters in this palette, specifically PEACH! I find myself gravatating towards that shade more than any other Highlight I own. Pink and Gold are beautiful as well, but the star of the show for me has to be Peach.

I think regardless if you love a more subtle highlight, or a blinding one, you’ll enjoy this hi-Lite palette.

BH Cosmetics Blacklight Highlighter Palette Review with swatches | MakeupbytashaXO

Hey everyone! Duochrome seems to be the new trend right now, and recently I’ve been on a highlighter kick and have been buying them like craaazy! I noticed that BH Cosmetics has released two Highlighter palettes, and one happened to be duochrome based (hello MOONCHILD dupe?!) So I had to buy it to try out for you guys!

The Backlight Highlighter Palette retails for $16.99usd and contains 1.23oz of product in total (.2oz per highlight).

Embrace the ethereal allure of our Blacklight Highlight 6 Color Palette, an assortment of iridescent shimmer powders that produce enchanting effects. The pearlized pastels conjure up daring, dreamy looks when applied above cheekbones, above and beneath brows, on inner eye corners, Cupid’s bow, bridge of nose, shoulders, collarbone & anywhere you’d normally highlight. Apply colors individually or layer and blend to create a pigment of your imagination!

This palette is sleek with a magnetic opening, and contains a large mirror which is a huge plus. The six pans that hold each shade are huge which means you can pack on that glow and won’t run out fast.

There are a total of six Highlighter shades in this palette.
Strobe — a cool toned white

Electra — a yellow toned champagne

Laser — a green toned champagne duochrome

Kween — a cool toned blue duochrome

Illusion — a cool toned pink/purple duochrome

On Point — a dark pink duochrome

Personally I find this Highlighter formula to be AMAZING! Each iridescent shade feels buttery soft, has great pigmentation, and leaves a beautiful pearlized effect on your skin.

Strobe does kick up a bit of powder from the pan, so keep that in mind if that’s an issue you can’t look over.

The rest don’t kick up any product when putting a brush into the powder, and apply without any fallout.

Wear Time

These wear extremely well! I was out from 5pm until 12:30am and they didn’t fade one bit! In the previous videos I used every shade to create a very bold, out of this world Highlighter (I gotta admit, I kind of felt like the tin man, buuut I rocked it 😉🤣)

These highlighters aren’t for those who prefer the natural glow from within — these are more so for the daring who enjoy a glow to the heavens look, and while they can be sheered out, they look better work to their full opacity.
